7470: I'm back - sort of: My computer issues rage on, I can't wait until I get my new machine up and running!! This piece of junk seems to be running again (Let's see how long that lasts lol) Anyway - This is the steam locomotive 7470 from the North Conway Scenic Railroad in North Conway, NH. I have waited 3 years for this shot! I have many more shot to show you guys that I couldn't post because of this damn machine!!

Gimme a Hug!: Happy Monday!

Happy Birthday!! Yesterday was her 7th birthday - these were trick candles which kept reigniting every time she blew them out. BTW - in case some of you are wondering why I never mention my kid's names (for those of you who don't know) - It's a promise that I made to my wife, in fact you may notice that I never mention any child by name. It's a precautionary thing - sorry. ( I wasn't around to visit or comment yesterday so I'll catch up today) Happy 1st day of Spring!

Shave and a Hair Cut, Two Bits: This is George's Barber Shop in Saugus, MA. Georege's is the oldest barbershop in the US. They opened their doors in 1902.

Beach Glasses: A view of the beach from my brother-in-law's sun glasses. You can see me in the chair - under the umbrella. Happy Monday!

Thrill Ride: Along with the train ride...we took the kids to "Story Land" - It's a nursery rhyme and "children's story" based amusement park in New Hampshire's White Mountains. I decided to ride on the "Flying Whales" with the boy. Obviously he had a blast.

GOT 'EM!!!! Happy Monday! - For those of your who don't know, my arch nemisis, Larry, the cardinal has returned. I've been trying for a couple of years to get a shot of him and my chance came during the weekend. He's insanely skittish so sneaking up on him is the only approach. (Which is exactly what I did). I crawled on all fours, in the rain, through a puddle and crouched next to my car and rattled off a few shots. Naturally my wife rolled up on me as I was shooting....she thinks I've lost my mind

My Niece:I wasn't near my computer yesterday so I wasn't able to post or comment on anything. Sorry about that! - Have a great weekend everyone - catch you all on Monday!

Mini Ray Vaughn: For Paula's challenge...This is my 3 year old with his guitar and "Stevie Ray Vaughn" hat. Yes, I have a 3 year old who LOVES SRV! His favorite song is Scuttle Buttin'...He's actually obsessed with music! In fact, sometimes, I have to play my guitar for him during dinner. His musical tastes knows no bounds...He loves Bob Seger, Dan Zanes, The Kinks, John Mellencamp, The Beatles and of people...Dean Martin! - He knows all the songs and all the artists..and he's only 3. Freaky.

Strike!

I Spy an Eye in the Sky: Happy Monday!

What not to Shoot: Yesterday I eluded to an “incident” that I had during my sunrise shoot in Boston. Here’s what happened: It was about 5:45 in the morning when I decided to go home after spending a couple of hours shooting around the Charles River with my buddy Paul. On my way home I stopped off in Charlestown to get a couple of skyline shots from the end of a pier in Boston Harbor. As I was shooting I noticed that a yacht was stopped by a State Police boat in the harbor. That boat was soon followed by a Coast Guard boat. Both boats had the yacht at a complete stop but they weren’t doing anything to the yacht…they just stayed about 50 yards off of his bow and didn’t move, it was weird. At that moment, I gazed over my shoulder and saw the biggest moving object I had ever seen in my life. It was an LNG tanker (liquid natural gas) and it was being guided through the harbor by 4 state police boats, 5 coast guard boats armed with 50 cal. machine guns (one is pictured above) and two helicopters. Naturally is started to take pictures of this entire operation. When I was done, I packed up my gear, turned around and was immediately greeted by a state trooper, a coast guard officer and the harbor patrol. They asked what I was doing, then they took my camera (got confused with all the buttons) then handed it back to me and had me show them all my shots. They made me delete all the pictures that had the entire boat in them. They did a background check on me then sent me on my way…..I think I'll stick to shooting flowers for a while.

Wrong Side of the Lens: Thank you for all your comments on the shot of my family yesterday! This shot is actually of me. I'm on a 9-ball team and one of my teammates hijacked my camera during a match that I was playing. This is the result after a little pp.

A few of you have expressed a desire to see a few more elf shots - So I decided to continue with the series for a little while longer....I've been having a blast shooting these. Another Whale Tail: AAAAAARRRRRRRGHHH!!!!!! I can no longer down load pictures. I had to use a friend's computer today - I can access the website but only partially. I cannot open any images or navigate anywhere in the site. I'm in the hunt for a new computer. This is soooooo frusrtating

Bridge Over Placid Water: I'm continuing with the train theme...This was shot from the back of a moving train - ("I got spoken to" for hanging off of the back by the conductor. - As it turns out - the conductor is also a photographer so he understood that I didn't want to take that shot - I HAD to take that shot lol. THANK YOU SO MUCH for all of your comments on yesterday's locomotive shot!! And yes, it was moving towards me when I took the shot, fortunately for me I had the PERFECT vantage point from the back of the train!!!

Rescue at Sea : Taken From the Huffington Post: Tuesday 4/16 - MIAMI -- A Disney cruise ship picked up a group of migrant rafters off the Florida Keys.
Ensign Pete Bermont says the U.S. Guard retrieved five people from the Disney Wonder Tuesday afternoon. Their nationality wasn't immediately known.
Disney spokeswoman Rebecca Peddie says the Wonder's crew spotted the single raft about 42 miles south of Key West. The rafters were given food, water and medical attention.
