Prometheus and a Kiss: A romantic moment on the ice at Rockefeller Center while Prometheus looks on....Bummer about the two in the foreground but this moment unfolded very quickly...I'm just happy that I captured it 11/14/2013
This is the Chrysler Building on the corner of Lexington and 42nd St. In New York City. It stood as the tallest building in the world...for only 11 months before being eclipsed by the Empire State Building in 1931. During it's construction the Chrysler Building was in competition with a rival project 5 miles away in lower Manhattan - 40 Wall St. The architects for both buildings - William Van Alen (Chrysler Building) and H. Craig Severance (40 Wall Street) would monitor each others progress from across Manhattan via binoculars. Severance finally had enough and in mid-construction, increased the height of his building and proclaimed the coveted title of tallest building in the world...But over at the Chrysler Building, Van Alen had secretly built a 125 foot tall spire inside the structure and in just 90 minutes - shoved the spire through the top of the building and claimed the title from 40 Wall St. 11/13/13
